Etsy Crush: Spring Fever

I don't know about you, but I am having some major Spring Fever lately! Last week here in Portland we got a little taste of Spring (it's supposed to cool down and bit and rain more the next couple weeks now, boo!). My super Spring Fever got me searching through Etsy to find some great handmade Spring time items; I have a crush on all of these:

Seeds from SmartSeeds to start your garden this Spring. I ordered the scarlet milkweed pictured above along with some cute French mini melons and Hungarian sweet peppers. I can't wait for my container garden this summer!

This super cute camper birdhouse from birdhouse20. I don't have a yard or any kind of space to put a birdhouse at the moment (I use all my balcony space for container gardening), but I really love the look of these birdhouses.

These planter rings from wearableplanter come in bright Spring colors and can house a tiny plant (they come with moss). Super cute!

Finally, these awesome glass terrariums from Glimpse Glass are right up my alley. I have a TON on hen and chicks from a plant I propagated last September, as well as some air plants I have purchased. I think a cute little hanging home would be perfect for some of them (and my window sill is getting really cluttered!).

Have you seen any great Spring items on etsy or a favorite blog? Leave me a comment to share, I'd love to take a peek!

Giveaway Day (CLOSED)

This year I am once again participating in Sew Mama Sew's Giveaway Day! If you are a first time visitor, be sure to take a look around the blog. There are lots of recipes to be found in addition to projects for all occasions and a beginners embroidery stitch library! If you are looking for ways to be extra giving yourself this season, you can always check out my post on giving back. Some of my more popular blog posts can be seen below, check out: Paper Flower Roundup, DIY Small Gift Bows, Candy Cane Sugar Scrub, or Gift card envelopes.

I just couldn't decide on a fabric line or book to give away this year, so I decided to let you choose your own handmade gift or bunch of supplies via an Etsy gift card! Etsy has lots of great options for finished products as well as supplies (hello vintage fabrics!), so you are sure to find something you like. The gift card option also makes this giveaway open worldwide!

Not sure where you'd spend your gift card? Here are a couple of my favorite shops!

To enter the giveaway, please use the rafflecopter widget below (allow time to load). I know not everyone is a fan of rafflecopter, so you may also get an entry by leaving me a comment below telling me what you are most likely to spend your gift card on (make sure there is an email address I can use to contact you--I will add comment entries to the rafflecopter widget at the end of each day, one comment per entrant please). Comment moderation has been turned on, comments will not appear until approved.

Congratulations Erin! Your Etsy gift card is on its way! For everyone else I hope you continue to follow The Craftinomicon for more great projects and future giveaways!

Things I Love- September

Heart shaped yarn bomb I found on a walk through my neighborhood.

It is September already! I'm sure looking forward to weather that isn't quite so HOT, but beyond that there are lots of things I just love right now that I had to share with you. Also, make sure to look around at all the projects that have been going on here in the past couple weeks. There is lots going on this month as well, so make sure to check back or follow me on Bloglovin', feedly, facebook, etc. so you don't miss out on all the fun! Hope you all had a great Labor Day Weekend!

How great are these watercolor paintings from Oh Gosh, Cindy! on etsy? I am partial to the one above from Moonrise Kingdom, but she has lots of other great ones. I think this one will be living with me soon.

I'm also loving this cake plate from H&M. You can shop online there now in the US, and they have some great home goods that the US stores don't seem to stock yet. I may get this for my birthday cake (yay October is coming soon-Happy Birthday to me!). These plates are smaller than a standard cake plate (luckily I have a 6" cake pan that might just come in handy).

Last but not least, my tiny balcony garden is still going strong! This little watermelon should be ready soon and I'm so excited about it! I also have some California Poppies in bloom and several lettuces and basil. Finishing off this garden season strong!

What are you all in love with this month?

I was not compensated for this post by any of the above mentioned shops. I just really like this stuff.

Give Handmade

It's Holiday time, and while I will be posting a few easy crafts that can be done at the last minute, I fully acknowledge that we can't make all the gifts for everyone ourselves. That is when it's great to have sites like Etsy, that can provide lots of great handmade gifts for the awesome people in your life! Here are a few shops with super cute items that I found while perusing gifts the other day, I hope you enjoy them :)

Pictured at the top of the post are some earrings from Adriana Soto. I really love her jewelry and plan on "hinting" at my husband that several items here would be a great addition to the loot in my stocking. There are several great statement pieces, as well as some more understated things that would cater to almost anyone's taste and budget.

I found some great cards and stationery from Sweet Bella Stationery. I originally found their Etsy shop, but they have this great website you can check out. Not only are the Holiday cards cute, but don't forget Thank You notes for all the gifts you receive!

When doing a handmade post, I can't ignore all the great talent that comes from right here in Portland, OR. Nell & Mary is a great shop with various home textiles and they are great! They use eco friendly materials and hand print the designs in their small Portland studio. Why get your friends and family members the same old pillows, dishtowels, etc that everyone else has? Get a gift that is unique and handmade in the U.S.!

Finally, if you are looking for a super cute stocking stuffer, look no further than these great coin purses from oktak. They have bright fabrics and cute embroidery details! I, of course, am partial to this one with little rain clouds :)

One of the greatest things about Etsy shops is that a brief convo with the owner can often get you one of a kind, personalized items, and this time of year bargaining for gift wrap to get your item shipped to the recipient on time isn't hard either!

Shark Week!

It is Shark Week! I don't even have cable TV, but I think sharks are pretty great, so this week I plan on having a couple of Shark related crafts for all of you to enjoy (Shark food craft? yes, please!). Tune in for more sharky action as the week progresses, let me know some of your favorite sharky wares or crafts and enjoy the wonder that only comes one week a year.

I found this treasury on etsy to get your creative sharky juices flowing. Also, I made the Hammerhead shark fabric you see at the top of the post. Once again, I'm not sure what it is going to become but I absolutely love how it turned out. You can order some here or go to Spoonflower, upload an image and make your own!

Shop updates!

Hey everyone! I just got some more of my Rainy Day fabric from Spoonflower in the mail today, and I wanted to let you all know that my April Showers Bring May Flowers coasters have been added to my shop. So, if you didn't win the May Giveaway Day contest, and just have to have some of these for your very own, they may now be obtained! I am also working on some new Patchy Derm the Pachyderm stuffed toys that should be up by next week.

I hope you are all having a great weekend, the sun has finally come out this weekend in Portland and we are scheduled to have our very first 80+ degree day today! I'm sure I will fit some crafting into the sunshine and relaxing. :D

I am way behind on some projects I started months ago (for shame!, I know) but I am hoping to get lots done this next week so stay tuned for some exciting new projects.

New Etsy Shop Grand Opening!

Hey everyone! I have been really busy lately, and I am sure you have noticed a slow down in posts. Don't worry, I have just been putting together a new Etsy shop, which will be updated a great deal in the coming week with a bunch of new products and some old favorites. Some prices of old items have gone down (I've been finding some great deals on materials lately and I'm passing on savings!). The shop can be found Here.

Also, I am creating a new Craftinomicon Facebook page and will be posting about that as soon as it is live so you can follow me and get updates on new blog posts, contests and more!

Also, don't forget that tomorrow is May Giveaway Day! I will have my giveaway posted before the sun is even in the sky, and entries will be accepted until the 25th, so make sure to stop by and enter!

Aid for Japan

I don't make a lot of money, but I do make a lot of things. To try to do my part in aiding Japan after the recent earthquake and tsunami, I am offering this orchid magnet in my etsy shop this month. Also, I will be donating 10% of the proceeds from all other items in my shop for the month of March. Please go take a look here if you would like to purchase something and help me help Japan.

Up and Running!

After much hard work and preparation I finally have my etsy shop up and running! Items are going to be moving in slowly but surely, and some will be featured here in days to come, so check back often.

To see what is currently available check out the shop at http://kamo.etsy.com

I am also in the process of starting an e-mail list for KaMo. Contact me if you would be interested in joining, and give me your e-mail address. E-mails will go out about once a month with information on any of my blog contests, or special sales in my shop!
