Last Minute DIY Ideas for Mom

Hey all! With Mother's Day fast approaching, I know some of you may be at a loss of what to get or make for mom (or maybe you need some ideas of what the kids can make for mom/grandma, etc). Here is a list of some super easy last minute gifts to bring a smile to any mom's face. Happy Mother's Day!

Make mom a long lasting bouquet of paper flowers. There are so many varieties to choose from, and you can use any colored or patterned paper you like! Tailor make some polka dotted daisies or striped roses in mom's favorite colors :)

Make a cute geometric heart card or framed wall art with this tutorial from Ludorn (In German and English).

Make some gem shaped shrink plastic earrings (or charm bracelet, or necklace) with this awesome tutorial from Minted Strawberry.

Whether mom has a green thumb or not, these succulents in painted ball jars will be a great fit! The gals at Lolly Jane even have printable gift tags for you to use!

Have a lot of mom's in your life? You can whip up a huge batch of these bath salts and put them in cute containers to gift to everyone! Bonus points if you scrub the bathroom for mom before gifting these to her!

Happy Mother's Day!

Shark Week!

It is Shark Week! I don't even have cable TV, but I think sharks are pretty great, so this week I plan on having a couple of Shark related crafts for all of you to enjoy (Shark food craft? yes, please!). Tune in for more sharky action as the week progresses, let me know some of your favorite sharky wares or crafts and enjoy the wonder that only comes one week a year.

I found this treasury on etsy to get your creative sharky juices flowing. Also, I made the Hammerhead shark fabric you see at the top of the post. Once again, I'm not sure what it is going to become but I absolutely love how it turned out. You can order some here or go to Spoonflower, upload an image and make your own!

Countdown to the Deathly Hallows

I've been holding back my excitement until now, but I am totally a Harry Potter nerd and I can't wait for the Deathly Hallows Part 2 to come out on the 15th. If you are a fan too, you will want to be sure to check back frequently this week as I have plans for many Potter themed projects, including a yummy Food Craft.

Fear not, for I also have some non-magic crafts in the works as well, and last but not least, I hope you all enjoy your July 4th weekend!

New Addiction

I'm not saying you should do this. But you should totally do this! I don't know how many of you out there are aware of Pinterest.com, but it is amazing. Basically, while you are surfing the web, you can "pin" the things you like, find inspiring, etc. and categorize it for others to gawk at. To me, it is kind of a mix between twitter and craftgawker/foodgawker (you can, in fact even tweet your posts from pinterest, etc.).

I just started, but I'm already a total addict. I love how the more things I pin, the prettier my little "pin boards" get. I also love checking out the things that inspire others. The only annoying thing is you have to request an invitation to join, so I had to wait a few days before I got to start using it.

If you have a pinterest account, I would love to see what inspires you! I can be found Here. Please feel free to follow me and see all of the things that I love!

Back In Business...

So, sadly, after starting my last journey into blogging I was the recipient of two job offers and subsequently fell off the planet (yes, I am still working both jobs).

Never fear! For I am back, and this will prove to be a year full of exciting posts, instructions on some crafty projects and more, much more! (perhaps a giveaway or two will take place, hmm?) I also have some plans for months that will be "project-a-day". Trust me--I'm being very optimistic in this new year, but I feel I can pull it off!

Also, be ready to see an overhaul to the blog itself, as new background imagery and more will be headed this way.

So, it begins.

I don't know why I waited until now to start a blog, but here it is. I guess I figured I need a new outlet for all my craftiness. Plus, I'm sure people will love me not clogging up my facebook with craft photos and updates. In the days, weeks, months and years to come look forward to: updates on my personal crafts and etsy shop, awesome giveaways and contests, links to some of my favorite crafty inspiration and so much more! It will probably start out slow, as I am in the works on many different things (including my etsy shop's grand opening). I look forward to getting crafty on the worldwide interweb with all of you!
